Chapman Abbott Oil Field

The Chapman Abbott Oil Field, producing oil from a dozen wells, was discovered in 1930. The oil reservoir at 1800 feet depth is also a volcanic Serpentine formation about three times larger than the Thrall oil field. Cumulative production; 6 million barrels of oil, with 24 million barrels remaining in the ground, of which 6 to 7 million barrels might be recovered with modern technology. The field is operated by PNP Petroleum out of San Antonio. See PNP Petroleum
